Saturday Reset: Simple Weekend Self-Care (Pick 3)

Weekend self-care doesn’t need to be another project or performance. Sometimes, the most supportive thing you can do is choose just a few simple actions and let that be enough. Especially for women after 40, rest isn’t something you have to earn. It’s something you deserve, simply because you’re here, you’re human, and you’ve made it through another week.

This is one of the many gentle exercises from my book, Wellness After 40 for Women: A Reinvention Plan for Stress Relief, Healthy Habits, Confidence & Vitality. My hope is to help you carve out a softer, more intentional weekend. A space where you can recharge, reconnect, and remember that caring for yourself can be both simple and deeply meaningful.

Pick 3 for Your Saturday

Think of this as your permission slip to choose three supportive actions, one from each area below, or the three that feel right today. This isn’t about doing more. It’s about supporting yourself on purpose, in ways that genuinely matter to you.

Body

  • Drink a full glass of water before anything else. Hydration is the simplest form of care, and it’s a way of saying “good morning” to your whole system.
  • Eat something satisfying and nourishing. Not just what’s “healthy,” but what makes you feel comforted and energized from the inside out.
  • Go for a 10-minute walk. Fresh air and gentle movement can work wonders for both your energy and mood.
  • Stretch for five minutes. Release the week’s tension and remind your body that it’s safe to relax.

Home

  • Tidy one surface, your nightstand, a kitchen corner, or even a drawer. Small order can create big calm.
  • Wash one small load or put something away. Progress, not perfection, is the goal.
  • Open a window. Let in fresh air and a new perspective.
  • Light a candle or soften the room a little. Scent and light can signal your mind and body that it’s time to unwind.

Mind

  • Put your phone down for 20 minutes. Give yourself a break from notifications and noise.
  • Sit quietly with coffee or tea. Savor the moment, without multitasking or expectations.
  • Write down what feels heavy. Give your mind permission to release, so your heart can breathe.
  • Read something calming for 10 minutes. Nourish your thoughts with words that soothe and inspire.

Why This Gentle Reset Helps

Many women arrive at the weekend still carrying the whole week in their bodies and minds. Before Saturday can feel restorative, it often disappears into errands, catch-up, and a low-level hum of overwhelm. That’s why choosing just three supportive actions creates a different rhythm. It helps the day feel kinder, steadier, and more intentional, without turning self-care into another task list or source of pressure.

Three things. That’s enough. Let your Saturday be a space where you honor your actual needs, not impossible ideals or someone else’s expectations.

From My Book

This is the kind of gentle, practical support at the heart of Wellness After 40 for Women. Not pressure, not perfection, just small choices that help life feel better. If you’re ready to bring more calm, clarity, and self-respect into your weekends (and your everyday life), you’ll find even more simple, doable resets and rituals inside the book.
